Woody Allen will write and direct a TV series for Amazon

As streaming services scramble to bulk up their lineups with the next House of Cards or Transparent, Amazon just scored the first-ever TV series from one of Hollywood's most acclaimed directors: Woody Allen.
The as-yet untitled series will premiere exclusively on Amazon's Instant Video service next year. Amazon didn't reveal anything about the show's premise or cast — presumably because Woody Allen hasn't actually figured those things out yet.
"I don't know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I'm not sure where to begin," said Allen in a statement. "My guess is that [Amazon Studios Vice President] Roy Price will regret this."
