Ohio State may have beaten Oregon in the first College Football National Championship game Monday night, but ESPN was the real winner. In any given minute, 33.4 million viewers tuned into the game, according to Nielsen data provided by ESPN.
ESPN also claims to hold the rest of the top 20 most-viewed programs on cable TV. Numbers 2 and 3? The Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl playoff games.
