Eric Garner's memorial was destroyed last night
A public memorial for Eric Garner on Staten Island was burned by an arsonist on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Vocativ reports.
Garner's daughter, Erica, tweeted that the memorial was destroyed in a fire, adding that those responsible should be held accountable. Tweets using the hashtag #ReclaimMLK show trampled flowers and broken glass at the site of Garner's makeshift memorial.
Earlier on Monday, roughly 100 people, including Rev. Al Sharpton, gathered at the memorial site to honor Dr. Martin Luther King with a vigil. Erica Garner delivered a speech to honor King and his civil rights legacy.
