Massive New Jersey apartment fire leaves hundreds homeless

Firefighters battled a massive fire overnight at a four-story apartment complex in Edgewater, New Jersey, right across the Hudson River from Manhattan. There are no reported fatalities and only a few minor firefighter injuries, but hundreds of residents of The Avalon at Edgewater complex had to spend the night in a shelter or at friends' houses and the conflagration was visible from across the river. Authorities are still trying to determine what started the fire. Edgewater's mayor said that the city's schools will be closed on Thursday and roads restricted until further notice.
