47 states have more conservatives than liberals

A new Gallup poll indicates that 47 states are home to more people identifying as conservatives than as liberals. Massachusetts, Vermont, and Hawaii are the three exceptions with a higher percentage of liberals, and the District of Columbia would top the list were it a state.

Conservatives have long outnumbered liberals in America, though the proportion of liberals has increased in recent years. However, when it comes to party affiliation, more Americans are Democrats than Republicans, while Independents outnumber both.
