Krispy Kreme apologizes for advertising 'KKK Wednesdays'

A U.K. Krispy Kreme branch has apologized after advertising "KKK Wednesdays" on its Facebook page.

The unfortunate abbreviation was meant to stand for Krispy Kreme Klub Wednesdays, but customers were quick to point out the acronym's other definition — the abbreviation for the U.S. white supremacist group.

"Krispy Kreme apologizes unreservedly for the inappropriate name of a customer promotion at one of our stores," a Krispy Kreme spokesperson told The Guardian. "This promotion was never intended to cause offense. All material has been withdrawn, and an internal investigation is currently underway."
