Marisa Tomei will play Gloria Steinem in HBO miniseries
Oscar-winning actress Marisa Tomei will play the feminist activist Gloria Steinem in Ms., an upcoming HBO miniseries.
The series will center around the creation of Ms. magazine in 1971, and Steinem herself will be a consultant for the series. Kathy Najimy will co-star as Bella Abzug, a U.S. representative who helped form the National Women's Political Caucus. Bruce Cohen, George Clooney, and Grant Heslov will serve as executive producers, as well as Tomei and Najimy.
Steinem, one of the Ms. magazine founders, also co-founded the Women's Media Center with Jane Fonda and Robin Morgan. The Wrap notes that Steinem is "recognized as a leader of and spokeswoman for the feminist movement in the late 1960s and 1970s."
