Adding another $4.5 million to its gross over the weekend, American Sniper just passed The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 to become the highest-grossing movie released in 2014. To date, American Sniper has grossed $337.2 million.

After a brief limited release in December, American Sniper shattered expectations when it opened wide in January, grossing a whopping $89.6 million on its opening weekend — more than double the projections of analysts. It was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for star Bradley Cooper, and won for Best Sound Editing.
