Speaking in defense of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's inappropriate use of a personal email account for State Department business, Lanny Davis evinced an apparent confusion over the basics of how email works.
Davis, a crisis communicator who is a friend and lawyer of the Clinton family, told Fox News on Sunday that "a secretary of State traveling to 111 countries might be needing to have one email system versus people in the department who should use the official system," and "she might feel the need, traveling all over, with a hand-held device."
Of course, plenty of other State Department employees also travel internationally and successfully use their government emails on their "hand-held devices," because that is, in fact, exactly how email is designed to work. One ambassador was even fired during Clinton's tenure in part for his failure to do so.
