Coming soon to your smartphone: Nintendo games
Nintendo is coming for your smartphone — but don't get too excited about Super Mario just yet.
The company announced Tuesday that it's partnering with Japanese mobile gaming company DeNA to create all-new smartphone games that feature existing Nintendo characters. While none of the characters used in the games have been announced yet, DeNA said in a statement that "only new original games optimized for smart device functionality will be created, rather than porting games created specifically for the Wii U home console or the Nintendo 3DS portable system."
Still, it's hard to imagine that Nintendo would enter the smartphone game market without bringing back its beloved plumber. If we're lucky, perhaps we'll soon have a version of Flappy Mario at our fingertips.
