South African prison officials recommended Oscar Pistorius be released from prison Aug. 21, The Associated Press reports. The double-amputee Olympic runner will have served 10 months of a six-year sentence for fatally shooting his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, in 2013.
The prison committee cited the athlete's good behavior as the basis for their decision.
Pistorius would go under house arrest after his release. A parole board decision is pending.
