Being stranded anywhere is a pretty terrifying proposition — but being stranded alone in space, 140,000,000 miles away from Earth, is about as bad as it gets. Ridley Scott's The Martian , based on Andy Weir's bestselling novel of the same name, follows Matt Damon as a shipwrecked astronaut on Mars after a mission gone wrong:
As Damon figures out his best chance for survival, his former coworkers — including Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, and Chiwetel Ejiiofor — realize he's still out there and work to get him back. "It's space. It doesn't cooperate," says Damon in the trailer. "I guarantee you that at some point, everything's going to go south on you, and you're going to say, 'This is it. This is how I end.'"
The Martian hits theaters in November.
