After 26 seasons and 574 episodes, you might think that The Simpsons has run out of stories to tell. Not so! In a decision that definitely won't enrage any of the show's loyal viewers, Simpsons executive producer Al Jean revealed that Homer and Marge will be splitting up, and Girls star Lena Dunham is stepping in to voice Homer's new love interest.
In an interview with Variety, Jean explained that the break in Homer and Marge's marriage will take place in the season's September 27 premiere. "It's discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it's an incredible strain on the marriage," says Jean. "Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who's voiced by Lena Dunham."
Of course, The Siimpsons wouldn't cast its decades-long central relationship aside just for Lena Dunham. That would be crazy. And that's why the other women of Girls will show up in the episode, too.
