During an afternoon campaign stop in Hamlin, Iowa, on Monday, just four supporters showed up to eat lunch with Republican 2016 presidential candidate Rick Santorum.

Santorum and his campaign aides weren't discouraged by the turnout, though. "It's not glamorous, and you're not out there raising money, but you're doing what the money is ultimately supposed to do — getting votes," Santorum told The Des Moines Register. "This is a lot more fun than being on the phone raising money."

Santorum explained to the paper that one of the four Iowans who attended the event said he would speak for Santorum during Iowa's 2016 caucus. "That's maybe eight votes that you wouldn't otherwise get," Santorum told the Register. "Eight votes can make a big difference, as I know."
