On Tuesday, the chief of police in McKinney, Texas, said that Cpl. Eric Casebolt has voluntarily resigned from the force after a video of him waving his gun at swimsuit-clad teenagers and forcing down a female black teen outside a pool party last weekend drew national attention to the prosperous Dallas suburb.

While 11 of the 12 officers responding to the fight at the pool party "performed according to their training," Casebolt's behavior was "inexcusable," said Police Chief Greg Conley. "He came into the call out of control and, as the video shows, was out of control during the incident."

Casebolt, who is 41 and white, hasn't made any public remarks since the video went viral; he had been on the McKinney police force for 10 years, is a former officer of the year, and was accused of excessive force against a black motorist in a 2007 federal lawsuit. His actions are under investigation, Conley said, and it hasn't yet been determined whether he will face any charges for his conduct. You can watch excerpts from Conley's press conference below.
