Male bedbugs' mating rituals are horrifying

Just the thought of a bedbug infestation gives me the willies. Know what's worse? How they reproduce. As Aaron Carroll explains below, when mating, a male bedbug for some reason ignores the female's genitals. Instead, he punctures her abdomen, depositing sperm directly into her body cavity. Yuck!
