Chilling photo shows Charleston shooting suspect wearing a flag of apartheid South Africa

Dylann Roof

A widely circulated photo from the Facebook page of 21-year-old Dylann Roof, the sole suspect thus far in the shooting Wednesday night of nine people at a historic black church in Charleston, South Carolina, appears to show Roof wearing a jacket embroidered with two flags, that of apartheid South Africa and white-controlled Rhodesia (which became Zimbabwe upon independence from colonial rule).

As ThinkProgress notes, the South African flag is at the top, and the Rhodesian at the bottom.
