Suspected Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof arrested

Charleston church shooting suspect Dylann Roof, 21, has been arrested in Shelby, North Carolina, and is in police custody, Charleston's mayor said Thursday. Roof, who was out on bond in connection to arrests on drug and trespassing charges, allegedly opened fire during a Wednesday prayer meeting in Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, killing nine people. Among the dead is the church's pastor Clementa Pinckney, who is also a South Carolina state senator. The shooting is being investigated as a hate crime.
