Tunisia's Interior Ministry said gunmen killed 28 people and injured 36 others in an attack near two hotels popular with tourists in the resort town of Sousse, The Associated Press reported Friday morning. A security source said that there was an exchange of gunfire on the scene; one suspect was reportedly killed in the clash and police are pursuing the other. Tunisia has been on alert since March, when Islamic gunmen attacked the Bardo museum in Tunis killing 22 people. Sousse is one of the country's most popular beach resorts and attracts Europeans and people from neighboring countries. The incident is still under investigation and the death toll may rise.
