Poll: Half of Americans aren't worried about legal pot endangering drivers

A Gallup poll released this morning finds that a plurality of Americans are not worried that our roadways will become less safe as marijuana is increasingly legalized for medical and even recreational use:

This assessment was statistically identical in states with and without some form of legal pot. Urban and rural respondents were likewise comparable, though pollsters did find that Americans 65 and older were significantly more likely to believe that legal pot would make driving less safe.

Ironically, studies have shown that driving while high makes people more likely to drive slowly — or, in other words, to drive like a grandma. In fact, earlier this year, research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that marijuana use does not increase the likelihood of a crash at all.
