The first-ever TV ad for marijuana will air next week
Marijuana culture has come a long way since Reefer Madness.
Coloradoans tuning in to Denver's ABC affiliate KMGH next Monday for Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be treated to an ad promoting Neos, a company that sells vape pens loaded with cannabis oil. While the ad itself sounds pretty generic — The Cannabist describes the commercial as a "lifestyle shot" that shows "people camping, on a hike, portraying a cannabis consumer who is active and healthy" — the spot marks the first time the U.S. will air an advertisement for a legal marijuana company, The Cannabist reports.
The ad will, of course, be subject to Colorado's strict marijuana advertising laws, meaning ads will have to be aired after 10 p.m. and cannot show people using the product.
