Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, a country music golden couple, filed for divorce Monday after four years of marriage.
"This is not the future we envisioned," Lambert and Shelton said in a statement to The Associated Press. "And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends, and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
Lambert and Shelton met in 2005 when they performed together in a Country Music Television concert. Since then, the two have toured together and collaborated many times; they have been named the Country Music Association's male and female vocalists of the year every year since 2010.
