Texas authorities release dash-cam video of Sandra Bland traffic stop and arrest
The Texas Department of Public Safety has released dashboard-camera footage of Sandra Bland's traffic stop on July 10.
Bland, a 28-year-old black woman, died July 13 in police custody, three days after being arrested for allegedly assaulting an officer during the traffic stop. On Monday, the Waller County Sheriff's Office released three hours of video footage recorded from a camera aimed at the hallway outside of her jail cell, which showed a sheriff's deputy discovering Bland's body. Officials said she was found with a garbage bag around her neck, and the county coroner ruled her death a suicide.
Bland's family said this was unlikely, as Bland had just moved to Houston for a new job, and she was excited about the opportunity. Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis said the case is "being treated like a murder investigation." The video below contains strong language. Catherine Garcia
