In a heated exchange at the GOP undercard debate between Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) and former Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.) on the contentious issue of immigration, Graham bristled at Santorum's assertion that any immigration reform plan should put Americans first. Graham retorted, "In my world, Hispanics are Americans."
Graham in 2013 was one of 14 Republicans who voted for a comprehensive immigration reform plan that had the support of Democrats and President Obama. The exchange with Santorum highlighted the divide within the GOP between immigration hardliners and moderates wary of alienating Hispanic voters.
