At the Emmy Awards, host Andy Samberg poked fun at the rampant sharing of HBO passwords by offering viewers the chance to use his login for the $15/month service HBO Now. It seemed like a simple, clever gag about a common TV trend among family and friends.
But here's the twist: Sandberg's login — "Khaleesifan3@emmyhost.com," with the password "password1" — actually works. As word has spread, access has become increasingly spotty, but you can give it a chance for yourself here.
For now, the staff at HBO Now seems to be taking the gag in stride, though they did tweet that they'll "be here all night. Apparently."
