Fired Benghazi committee staffer alleges bias against Hillary Clinton

A Republican staffer said Saturday he was fired from the House Select Committee on Benghazi after raising concerns over the investigation's politicization, The Washington Post reports.

"My nonpartisan investigative work conflicted with the interests of the Republican leadership, who focused their investigation primarily on Secretary Clinton and her aides," said Bradley Podliska, an Air Force reservist.

The committee called Podliska's allegations "transparently false," claiming Saturday he was fired due to showing bias in the investigation.

The committee is set up to investigate the Obama administration's handling of a 2012 attack on the U.S. embassy in Libya that killed four people. Many Democrats argue the committee is actually an excuse to probe Clinton, especially in light of her private email server scandal.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has drawn backlash from other Republicans for suggesting the committee met its goal by bringing down Clinton's presidential polling numbers. Clinton's campaign capitalized on Podliska and McCarthy's comments, dubbing the investigation a "partisan sham."
