For as long as people have enjoyed watching The Nightmare Before Christmas — 22 years, to be exact — they've enjoyed spirited debates about whether it's a Halloween or Christmas movie at its core.
One brave young fan of the Tim Burton classic posed this question to director Henry Selick himself during a Telluride Horror Show Q&A, the film website Birth Movies Death reports.
"It's a Halloween movie," Selick definitively responded.
