Michael J. Fox received a very special gift on Back to the Future Day: A pair of self-lacing Nike Mag shoes, as prophesied in Back to the Future II.
Nike shoe designer Tinker Hatfield sent Fox a letter, telling him that as Marty McFly, he was the "first, most celebrated wearer" of the self-tying Nike Mag shoes, and he wanted Fox to be the "first to receive a living pair." In the letter, Hatfield wrote that Nike also plans to make more pairs in 2016 in support of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease.
