Bei Bei the panda hit an important milestone on Monday, when the 10-week-old cub took his first unsteady steps. The Smithsonian's National Zoo has released footage from its panda cam, showing Bei Bei taking a few tentative steps as his mother, Mei Xiang, looks on — later, she scoops him up and gives him a big squeeze. Now that he's getting the hang of this whole walking thing, the zoo says Bei Bei will start leaving the den to wander around his indoor habitat. Catherine Garcia
