Donald Trump keeps rising in the polls, and that has the Republican establishment "shaking in their wingtips," Stephen Colbert said on Tuesday's Late Show. They are surprised that Trump has even stayed in the race this long, Colbert said, adding: "They were sure that by now he would have left it for a younger campaign." The GOP elite has only about a week to destroy him before it's too late, he said, but that's not going to happen, because Trump is "in-self-destructible." So, trying to be helpful, Colbert had some advice for the Republicans not enamored with Trump: "The GOP needs to stop panicking over the idea of Trump as your candidate and embrace it. Instead of fighting this wave, learn to enjoy drowning." He jumped in first, practicing saying "President Trump" then roping his audience in. Watch below. Peter Weber
