Watch the unexpectedly wacky first trailer for Star Trek Beyond
Yes, yes, we're all excited for Star Wars: The Force Awakens — but do you remember the other beloved sci-fi franchise that got a new lease on life via J.J. Abrams? Behold the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond:
The Star Trek Beyond trailer feels like an active attempt to win back moviegoers who were turned off by the franchise's grim, muddy previous installment, Star Trek Into Darkness. This new trailer is absolutely packed with one-liners, all set to the familiar strains of Beastie Boys' "Sabotage." It doesn't look much like the Star Trek of old, but we'll see if audiences are buying this Fast & Furious take on the franchise when Star Trek Beyond hits theaters in July.
