Georgia Air Force officials apologize for advertising a 'fun shoot' on Martin Luther King Day

The Georgia Air Force is probably wishing they'd planned their "fun shoot" for any day but Monday: Officials had to pull posters and apologize after the public pointed out that an outing to the base's trap and skeet club was an uncomfortable way to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The flyer, which was created by an outside marketing team, featured a picture of King with some unwisely chosen text:

"We realized the inappropriateness of the advertisement several days ago and immediately began removing the flyer. There was no malice of forethought in the flyer's creation and it was never the base's intention to portray Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in a negative light," Air Force officials said in a statement given to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
