Mexican officials are reportedly investigating the actress Kate del Castillo on suspicion of money laundering, Attorney General Arely Gómez told Mexican newspaper El Universal on Tuesday. Del Castillo, a popular soap opera actress, had helped Sean Penn get in touch with drug kingpin Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán for his Rolling Stone interview, published in January after the fugitive's recapture.

Mexican officials are reportedly looking into del Castillo's connection to El Chapo as well as the financing of her tequila brand.
