Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) main super PAC only raised about $2 million in the second half of 2015, CNN reports. Compare that to the first half of 2015, when Keep the Promise raised $38 million.

The super PAC has raised up to $5 million in January, anonymous sources told CNN. Group officials said fundraising beyond the three family investments that make up most of the super PAC's funds has not been a top priority.

A top Cruz fundraiser formed a rival super PAC, Stand For Truth. It hasn't yet reported its fundraising and spending totals.
