The New Yorker is remembering The Purple One with a fitting cover for next week's issue.

The cover image, titled "Purple Rain," is by illustrator and designer Bob Staake. The magazine's writers are also remembering Prince with several tributes on The New Yorker's website. In one post, Matthew Trammell writes that the late musical legend leaves behind "one of the handful of pop legacies whose broadness cannot be simplified in even its most romantic, famous moments, and now we must work to enjoy and adore that legacy as it warrants."
