Misty Copeland is getting her own Barbie doll

Misty Copeland, the first black woman to be named principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre, is getting her own Barbie, the ballerina revealed Monday on Good Morning America.
"I always dreamed of becoming an ABT ballerina, and through Barbie, I was able to play out those dreams early on," Copeland said in a news release. "It's an honor to be able to inspire the next generation of kids with my very own Barbie doll."
Copeland's doll is part of Barbie's Sheroes collection, which is known for highlighting prominent women of color including director Ava DuVernay and actress Zendaya. It is set to go on sale May 9.
