Donald Trump suggests Paul Ryan wants him to lose so Ryan can run for president in 2020
Donald Trump revealed on Monday that he's not entirely sure if House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) wants him to win the election next month.
When asked by Tom Llamas of ABC News if he believes Ryan wants him to be the next president, Trump said, "Well, maybe not, because maybe he wants to run in four years or maybe he doesn't know how to win." Trump made his comments before a campaign rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin. "I know I'm in [Ryan's] territory and they are all screaming for Trump," the Republican nominee said. "The head of the [state] Republican Party just left me. He shook my hand. He says, 'You are gonna win Wisconsin.' And I know one thing, we are gonna do very well here."
Trump and Ryan have a contentious relationship, with Ryan recently saying he won't hit the campaign trail for Trump and Trump declaring he's "better off" without his support.
