Following prison release, O.J. Simpson will live near Las Vegas
O.J. Simpson will spend the foreseeable future living in the Las Vegas area, State Division of Parole and Probation Capt. Shawn Arruti told The Associated Press Sunday.
Following a nine-year stint in prison for a 2007 armed robbery in Las Vegas, Simpson was released from Lovelock Correctional Center in northern Nevada early Sunday morning. Arruti would not say exactly where Simpson will be living, due to security concerns. Before going to prison in 2008, Simpson, 70, lived in Florida, and during his parole hearing this summer, he said he'd like to return. A parole official told AP Simpson does not have permission to leave Nevada, and the only plan it approved was for Simpson to live near Las Vegas.
His attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, said Simpson wants to spend time with his family, get an iPhone, and learn the latest technology, and he advised Simpson to stay out of the spotlight and work on reconnecting with friends and family. The media was not told when Simpson would be released, and a television news crew tracked him down when the car he was driving in to the Las Vegas area stopped for gas; he declined an interview.
