Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office has filed to dismiss the charges against former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates, a close business associate of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. The move follows Gates' guilty plea last week.
Mueller first indicted Manafort and Gates on 12 counts of financial crimes in October. He then hit the pair with 32 more charges Thursday, leading Gates to plead guilty Friday. Gates' plea prompted Mueller's team to file a superseding indictment against Manafort on Friday, detailing additional charges of financial crimes, including that Manafort allegedly laundered more than $30 million with Gates' help.
