nothing to worry about
It's tax day and the IRS website is down
Trying to do your civic duty and pay your taxes? Tough luck, says the IRS.
Anyone trying to access their IRS.gov account for much of tax day — yes, that's today — has faced the dreaded "service is currently unavailable" screen. Taxpayers apparently can't view their outstanding balance or make a payment until the year 9999 due to a "planned outage." Too bad the 2017 filing deadline is at midnight.
Taxpayers should continue filing as normal, an IRS spokesman told NPR. The IRS, of course, apologizes for any inconvenience.
