Fashion designer Kate Spade dead at 55 in apparent suicide

Fashion designer Kate Spade was found dead in what appears to be a suicide, police confirmed to The Associated Press.
The New York Daily News reported that a housekeeper found 55-year-old Spade in her Manhattan home around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday. She was found hanging and left a note at the scene, police told AP.
Spade founded her namesake company in 1993 with a line of handbags. It has since expanded to sell clothes, shoes, and other accessories, and has over 140 stores in the U.S. and 175 internationally.
