Is Giuliani trying to get the North Korea summit re-canceled?
Rudy Giuliani may have just endangered the North Korea summit.
President Trump's attorney said that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un got "on his hands and knees and begged" to keep the summit as planned, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
Trump and Kim originally made plans to meet in Singapore on June 12. But late last month, Trump canceled the summit over North Korea's "open hostility" toward the U.S. Then, a week later, Trump announced that the summit was back on, thanks to letters exchanged between the two leaders. Trump never explained what, exactly, Kim had said or done to change his mind, but his very-chatty attorney had some theories.
"Well, Kim Jong Un got back on his hands and knees and begged for it, which is exactly the position you want to put him in," Giuliani reportedly said. He also explained that Trump had scrapped the summit after North Korea had threatened "to defeat us in a nuclear war." Kim, a notoriously testy leader who is not quick to forgive insults or threats, has not issued any response to Giuliani's comments. Read more at The Wall Street Journal.
