Rep. Dan Donovan (R) lost his re-election bid in New York's 11th Congressional District to Democrat Max Rose, The Associated Press and NBC News project.

Donovan, the former Richmond County district attorney, had the support of President Trump and was expected to retain his seat. The district covers Staten Island and portions of Brooklyn, and Donovan was the only Republican congressman in New York City. Rose is a veteran of the Afghanistan War and was wounded in action in 2013.
