Police in Clearwater, Florida, have arrested a 19-year-old woman after she was caught on security camera setting fire to a car (pictured above). Buddhist monk wins £131,000 lottery
A Buddhist monk living in a monastery in Thailand has reportedly won the £131,000 top prize in a local lottery. Phra Prawit Techapalo, 41, of the Cheepakhao Temple in Samut Sakhon, claims that the winning numbers for the lottery were revealed to him as he examined the texture of bark on a teak tree at the monastery. As Buddhist monks are meant to eschew luxuries, such as money, Phra Prawit says he will spend the money on a house for his mother, education for his son and a funeral for his temple's recently deceased abbot.
Man breaks into home, paints dog purple
Massachusetts police have reportedly charged a man with a string of offences, after he allegedly broke into a home on the island of Martha's Vineyard, stole a number of items and painted the family's pet dog with purple paint. Police say Felix Reagan then stole, and crashed, the family's car. He was arrested while peering in the windows of another home nearby, and was found to be in possession of stolen prescription medication, and had purple paint spattered on his trousers which matched that on the dog.
