The image: Denny's, the largely nutrition-indifferent chain restaurant that brought you the Fried Cheese Melt, has introduced a new novelty sandwich "monstrosity." The Mac 'n Cheese Big Daddy Patty Melt features a "hand-pressed beef patty topped with our new creamy Mac 'n Cheese, melted cheddar cheese and zesty frisco sauce on grilled potato bread." Along with the side of fries, this hedonistic entree packs in 1690 calories and 99 grams of fat.

The reaction: Finally, says Phil Villarreal at The Consumerist, a solution for those of us who have "always been annoyed at how difficult it is to wedge bites of a patty melt and macaroni and cheese into your mouth at the same time." Yes, this "totally stomps all over [Denny's] previous effort, the Fried Cheese Melt, both in calorie count (1690 vs 895) and novelty level," says Paula Forbes at Eater. The only way they can top this artery clogger now is if they "serve it on a donut." Egads, America, says Andy Dawson at Bitter Wallet. Eating this sandwich "can be seen as a cry for help, maybe even an actual suicide attempt." Feast your eyes (at your own risk):
