Jack Abramoff, the Washington super-lobbyist who once boasted of his close ties to the Bush White House, was sentenced to 48 months in prison for his role in a wide-ranging corruption scandal.

Jack Abramoff, the Washington super-lobbyist who once boasted of his close ties to the Bush White House, was sentenced to 48 months in prison for his role in a wide-ranging corruption scandal. Prosecutors and defense attorneys requested a lighter sentence, citing Abramoff’s cooperation in several corruption cases. But U.S. District Court Judge Ellen Huvelle rebuffed those pleas, saying that Abramoff had “corrupted the political process.”
