Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) will deliver a "major speech" at Liberty University on Monday, according to staffers who spoke with The Texas Tribune on Friday.
The announcement set off speculation that Cruz is just days away from officially throwing his hat in the ring for the 2016 presidential race. While no one in Cruz's camp would confirm the content of his upcoming speech, a political staffer told The Daily Beast, "You're going to want to be there."
The Texas Tribune notes that several people who would likely play key roles in a Cruz campaign have already moved to his hometown of Houston, and that several sources were informed earlier this week that the senator would soon make an announcement either launching an exploratory committee or officially kicking off his campaign.
