Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) just became the new national frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination, at least according to a Fox News poll released late Thursday. This marks the first time Sanders has ever topped Clinton in a national poll, Talking Points Memo reports.
Sanders comes in three points ahead of Clinton, with 47 percent to her 44 percent — which is within the poll's margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points. When the Fox News poll was last conducted in January, Clinton enjoyed a comfortable 12-point lead over Sanders, with 49 percent to Sanders' 37 percent. His surge in the polls over the past month comes on the heels of a narrow loss in the Iowa caucuses and a big win over Clinton in New Hampshire.
The poll was carried out Feb. 15-17 among 429 respondents.
