Vice President Joe Biden landed in Baghdad Thursday on an unannounced visit intended to sort out a political crisis in the fight against ISIS. Biden is expected to meet with Iraqi leaders in hopes of bolstering the country's weak prime minister amid protests and emphasize the importance of unity in the face of military threats from ISIS. The White House has not released Biden's itinerary and previously kept his trip under wraps due to security concerns.

Biden's visit marks his first to the country since 2011, when he came to Baghdad after the last American troops withdrew from Iraq.
