New York Fashion Week ends with Marc Jacobs controversy

Thursday was the ninth and final day of New York Fashion Week for the spring/summer 2017 season. As is customary, the last day of festivities featured the Marc Jacobs runway show; the designer debuted looks at the Hammerstein Ballroom that were "a mix of raver and Harajuku schoolgirl, with a hint of royalty," The Cut wrote.
The Marc Jacobs show came under a bit of fire, however, for its use of fake dreadlocks — spun out of wool and hand-dyed by a mother-daughter Etsy team — to style white models. While the show's hairstylist Guido Palau told The Cut that the look was not inspired by Rasta culture, the frustration was summed up by several Twitter users:
The high-profile show featured celebrity models like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, and Adriana Lima. For more coverage of the full events of New York Fashion Week for spring 2017, head to The New York Times or New York.
